Custom printing should feel easy.
You do not need perfect files or technical wording to start. Send the idea, photo, sketch, broken part, file, or rough description — we’ll help determine the next step. For business, prototype, or repeat work, OliPoly can also quote more formally with part numbers, PO details, and production notes.
Ordering
How do I start a custom project?+
Use the Start Project page. Share what you want made, how it will be used, size or quantity details, and any file, photo, sketch, drawing, or example that helps explain it.
You can start here: Start Your Project.
Do I need a 3D file already?+
No. A 3D file helps, but you can also send a photo, drawing, broken part, measurement, inspiration image, or plain description. STL, 3MF, CAD, drawing, or reference files may be used as the starting point for the quote and build plan.
Can OliPoly help design something from an idea?+
Yes, depending on the project. Some ideas need design time, measurements, test prints, or revisions. Any design work will be reflected in the quote, and fit or use requirements should be shared before approval whenever possible.
Can I upload reference files or photos?+
Yes. The Start Project page accepts helpful project details and reference uploads, including photos, sketches, STL/3MF files, screenshots, drawings, and PDFs.
Start here: Start Your Project.
What happens after I approve a quote?+
Once a quote is approved and any required payment, PO, tax-exempt documentation, or customer confirmation is received, the project can move into scheduling and production. Accepted quotes may convert from a Q- quote number into an OP- order number for tracking.
Pricing & Quotes
How are prices calculated?+
Pricing can include material, print time, machine time, design work, post-processing, packaging, shipping, quantity, complexity, and timeline. Business or repeat orders may also include quantity pricing, part references, tax-exempt handling, or PO details.
How long is a quote valid?+
Unless otherwise stated, quotes are generally valid for 30 days. Material availability, scope changes, quantity changes, rush timing, or new requirements may require an updated quote.
Can the price change after approval?+
The approved price is based on the scope, quantity, files, materials, finish, and assumptions listed at the time of quoting. Changes after approval may affect price, timing, or feasibility.
When is payment due?+
Most projects are due upon completion unless otherwise agreed. Some custom, material-heavy, design-heavy, bulk, or business orders may require payment, a deposit, or PO approval before production begins. Any payment requirement will be shown on the quote or invoice.
Are custom orders returnable?+
Custom-manufactured items are generally non-returnable. Returns, refunds, replacements, or adjustments are handled at the discretion of OliPoly 3D based on the situation, project details, and whether there is a confirmed production issue.
Production & Materials
What materials do you print with?+
Material options vary by project and availability. Common options may include PLA, PETG, specialty colors, and other materials when appropriate. Material choice depends on appearance, durability, temperature exposure, flexibility, and intended use.
Will 3D printed parts look perfectly smooth?+
3D printed parts are layer-manufactured, so visible layer lines, small surface variation, texture differences, support marks, seam locations, and slight color or finish variation are normal unless special finishing is quoted separately.
How accurate are the parts?+
Accuracy depends on geometry, material, printer settings, orientation, scale, wall thickness, and the file provided. If a tight fit or critical dimension matters, please mention it before quoting so tolerance discussion, test fitting, or revisions can be planned.
Are customer-supplied files checked for issues?+
Basic printability issues may be noticed during setup, but customer-supplied files are generally treated as the customer’s approved starting point. OliPoly 3D is not responsible for design flaws, incorrect scale, fitment issues, functional failure, or bad geometry from customer-provided files unless separate design review or redesign work is agreed to.
Can you guarantee a part will work for my exact use?+
3D printing can be excellent for prototypes, replacement parts, fixtures, creative items, and small-batch work, but final fit, function, installation, safety, and suitability for the intended use should be confirmed by the customer.
Pickup, Delivery & Shipping
Do you offer local pickup?+
Local pickup may be available by arrangement. Pickup details are confirmed before completion or handoff.
Do you ship orders?+
Shipping may be available depending on size, durability, packaging needs, and destination. Costs and timing can be included with the quote or order details. Carrier delays, weather disruptions, and carrier handling are outside of OliPoly 3D’s control once shipped.
How does order tracking work?+
Accepted orders may receive an OP- order number. Enter it on the tracker to view customer-safe status, next steps, payment status, and pickup/shipping notes.

Business, PO Work & Production
Can you make replacement parts?+
Often, yes. Fit, function, material, measurements, and testing needs all matter. Some replacement parts may require revisions, test fitting, or customer validation before regular use.
Can you help with prototypes?+
Yes. OliPoly can help with concept models, fit checks, mockups, prototype parts, and early design iterations. Prototype work is especially useful when a part needs testing before a final version or repeat run.
Can you handle small production runs?+
Yes, when the part and timeline are a good fit. Repeat runs, small batches, part numbers, revision tracking, packaging requirements, and quantity pricing can be discussed during quoting.
Do you support purchase orders and business invoices?+
Yes. Business projects can use formal quotes, PO numbers, invoices, agreed payment terms, W-9 requests, tax-exempt documentation, and vendor setup support when appropriate.
Do you support tax-exempt customers?+
Yes. A completed tax exemption certificate should be provided before tax is removed from a qualifying order. OliPoly can keep the certificate on file with the customer record when applicable.
Can businesses reorder parts later?+
Yes. If files, specs, and production notes are saved from the original order, repeat orders can usually be handled more efficiently. Include the prior quote, order, invoice, PO number, part number, or revision when reaching out. Future reorder tools may also support simplified repeat-order requests.
Are parts certified for structural or safety-critical use?+
Unless specifically stated in writing, OliPoly 3D parts are not certified for life-safety, medical, aerospace, automotive safety, pressure, high-heat, or structural load-bearing applications. Customers are responsible for validation and testing for the intended use.
What projects might not be a good fit?+
Some projects may not be a good fit for OliPoly 3D, including work that requires certified engineering, regulated safety approval, extremely tight machining-level tolerances, hazardous use, restricted items, or production volumes beyond current capacity. When a project is not a good fit, we’ll try to be upfront about it.
General Questions
Are 3D printed items food-safe?+
Unless specifically stated in writing, OliPoly 3D printed items should not be assumed to be food-safe. Material, coating, cleaning, layer lines, and use conditions all matter.
Are prints safe for heavy loads or structural use?+
Unless specifically agreed in writing, prints are not guaranteed for structural, load-bearing, safety-critical, or high-stress use. Customers are responsible for evaluating suitability.
Can you print copyrighted characters, logos, or designs?+
Customers are responsible for having the right to use submitted designs, logos, artwork, models, or requested content. OliPoly may decline projects with ownership or IP concerns.
Where can I read the full terms and policies?+
You can review the full terms, privacy policy, refund language, payment details, and custom-order notes on the Legal page.
Still unsure?
Send the idea anyway. We can help figure out whether it is best treated as a simple custom print, a design project, a prototype, a repeat order, or a business/PO quote.
